Why this is a joiner's job
Most people with a sagging canopy search for a builder or a roofer — but a gallows bracket is a made timber structure, and the job is joinery: supporting the load, making a bracket to suit the actual projection and fixings, and fitting it so the canopy bears evenly. The propping is the part that matters most. A tiled canopy is heavy, it is fixed at only a couple of points, and once those are cut it is going nowhere but down.

Look where the bracket meets the wall — that is where water sits. Soft timber, staining, lifting paint or any movement in the canopy are all worth a closer look. Rot is often hidden behind sound-looking paint.
Is a sagging door canopy dangerous?
It can be — it sits directly above your front door, the one spot everyone walks under. If a bracket has failed it needs propped and looked at rather than left through another winter.
Do you replace one bracket or all of them?
The failed one, and we check the others while the canopy is supported. If they are sound there is no reason to replace them; if not, doing them while everything is propped avoids paying for the same setup twice.
