We fit, adjust and repair uPVC and composite front and back doors for homeowners across Ayrshire, including Irvine, Troon, Kilmarnock and Ayr. If your door has dropped, catches on the frame, has to be lifted to lock, or lets a draught in, it usually does not need replacing — it needs realigning. And when it does need replacing, a new door only performs as well as its fitting, so we take the time to get the frame plumb, the door adjusted and the seals doing their job.
Adjust and repair first — replace when it's needed
Most problems with uPVC and composite doors come down to alignment. Over time the door drops on its hinges or the frame moves slightly, and suddenly it catches at the top, needs a shove to close or has to be lifted before the key will turn. That is a straightforward adjustment at the hinges and keeps, and it saves the lock from being forced every day until it fails. We also replace worn multi-point gearboxes, handles, hinges and seals, and sort thresholds that let water in. When a door is genuinely done, we replace it. The old door and frame come out, the opening is checked and cleaned up, and the new frame goes in plumb, level and packed properly so it cannot twist when it is fixed. The door is then hung and adjusted at the hinges and keeps so it closes with an even gap all round and the multi-point lock throws without forcing. Outside, the frame is sealed to the wall to keep water out; inside, the reveals are made good so it is ready for decorating. Composite doors give you the look of a timber door with a tougher, low-maintenance skin; uPVC is the practical, lower-cost option — we are happy to talk through which suits your house and budget.

uPVC & Composite Doors — common questions
My uPVC door has dropped and catches on the frame — can it be fixed?
Almost always, yes. A dropped door is adjusted at the hinges and the keeps so it sits square in the frame again and closes without catching. It is a quick job and far cheaper than a new door.
My door has to be lifted to lock — what's wrong with it?
The lock hooks are no longer lining up with the keeps because the door has moved. Lifting the handle forces them in. Realigning the door fixes it; if the multi-point gearbox has already been damaged by forcing, that can be replaced without replacing the door.
Do you repair composite doors as well as uPVC?
Yes. Composite doors use the same kind of hinges, multi-point locks and seals as uPVC doors, so the adjustments and repairs are the same.
What is the difference between a uPVC and a composite door?
A uPVC door is a plastic door with an insulated core — the lower-cost, low-maintenance option. A composite door is built from several materials, usually a solid or foam core with a tough GRP skin, so it is heavier, more secure and holds its colour and finish better. Composite doors are the usual choice for a front door; uPVC is common for back and side doors.
Can you replace my old timber front door with a composite one?
Yes. The old door and frame come out and the new frame is fitted to the existing opening. Older openings are rarely perfectly square, so the fitting is where the care goes.
How long does it take to fit a new front door?
Most replacement doors are fitted in a day, including removing the old door, fitting the new frame and door, and sealing and making good.
Do you cover all of Ayrshire?
Yes — we fit external doors across Ayrshire including Irvine, Troon, Kilmarnock, Ayr and the surrounding towns.
