Collapsed uPVC Door Hinge Replaced and Door Realigned
The top hinge on this uPVC door had collapsed, so the customer had to lift the door to get it to close. New hinges were supplied and fitted, and the door was realigned and adjusted so it opens, closes and latches properly again.

The problem
The top hinge on this uPVC door had failed. With the hinge collapsed the door had dropped in the frame, so it no longer lined up with the keeps — the only way to close and lock it was to lift the door by the handle.
New hinges
Replacement hinges were supplied and fitted. uPVC door hinges carry the full weight of a heavy, glazed door, and once one gives way the others take the extra load, so replacing them together is the sensible fix.
Realigned and adjusted
With the new hinges on, the door was realigned in the frame and adjusted so it sits square, closes against the seals, and the locking points engage without having to lift or force the handle. A straightforward repair that restored the door to proper working order without the cost of a replacement door.

Common questions
Why do I have to lift my uPVC door to lock it?
Usually because the door has dropped, most often through a worn or failed hinge. The locking points then no longer line up with the keeps on the frame.
Can a uPVC door hinge be replaced?
Yes. Replacement hinges are available for most uPVC and composite doors. Once they are fitted the door can be adjusted back into line.
Do I need a new door?
Not usually. Most dropped or sticking uPVC doors can be put right with new hinges and adjustment, which costs a fraction of a replacement door.
