Garden Gates & Fencing in Ayrshire
We build and fit timber garden gates and fencing across Ayrshire.
We build and fit timber garden gates and fencing across Ayrshire. Openings between houses are rarely square and gardens are rarely level, so gates are made to suit what is actually there — braced properly so they do not drop, and hung on hinges that spread the load.
Why gates drop — and why ours don't
Nearly every dropped, dragging garden gate has the same cause: no effective bracing. A diagonal brace running up from the hinge side carries the gate's weight back to the hinges — without it the gate racks under its own weight until it catches the ground. Every gate we build is braced correctly and hung on hinges sized for the weight, which is why it still swings clear years later.
What to expect
We measure the opening and the fall of the ground
Gate built or sourced to suit, not forced to fit
Braced correctly for the hinge side
Hung, latched and checked to swing clear
Ground clearance set for the seasons, not just the day
Gates & Fencing — common questions
Can you make a gate for an awkward or narrow opening?
Yes — that is usually why people call us. Closes between houses and older garden walls are rarely a standard size or square, so the gate is built to suit what is there.
What timber do you use for gates and fencing?
Treated softwood as standard — it handles the Ayrshire weather, takes paint or stain well, and is sensible on cost. Hardwood is available where the budget suits.
Do you repair gates as well as build them?
Yes. A dropped gate can often be re-braced and re-hung rather than replaced, and fence runs can be repaired post by post.
