Preparation is most of the job
The part nobody sees is the part that decides whether the floor lasts. Old carpet, underlay and gripper come up, fixings and staples come out, and the deck underneath is checked for movement and level before anything new goes down.
Running it through as one floor
Laying through several rooms in one continuous run rather than breaking at each doorway with a threshold strip makes a house feel considerably bigger. It also takes more setting out: the plank direction has to work for every room at once, and the courses have to line up as they pass through each opening rather than being started afresh.
Cutting in
The finish is decided at the edges — around units, door linings, pipework and thresholds. Planks scribed to the shape of what they meet, rather than left short and covered with trim, is what separates a floor that looks fitted from one that looks laid.

Common questions
Does LVT need a special subfloor?
It needs a sound, level and dry one. LVT is thin, so anything underneath it eventually shows through — a loose board, a dip, a proud fixing. Preparing the subfloor properly is the difference between a floor that still looks right in five years and one that does not.
Can LVT be laid through several rooms without a threshold?
Usually yes, and it is worth doing — a continuous floor makes a home feel bigger and there is nothing to catch a toe on. It needs more setting out, because the plank direction and course lines have to work across every room.
Is LVT better than laminate?
For kitchens, dining rooms and anywhere that gets wet, generally yes — it handles moisture far better and is warmer and quieter underfoot. Laminate can still make sense on cost in bedrooms and living rooms.
