Oak doors bring warmth and character to a home, and they suit older cottages as well as new builds. Every oak door in our collection is real oak veneer on a solid engineered core: genuine oak grain on the surface, with a core that helps the door stay straight and stable in a centrally heated home. They are not solid oak, and we will always tell you that up front.

Choose unfinished oak if you or your decorator want to oil, wax or varnish the doors to your own colour, or pre-finished oak, lacquered in the factory and ready to hang. Many designs come solid or glazed, so you can let light through to a hallway or kitchen while keeping the same look throughout the house.

Oak Internal Doors – common questions

Are your oak doors solid oak?

No – they are real oak veneer on a solid engineered core. The veneer gives genuine oak grain, and the engineered core helps the door stay straight and stable. The core type for every door is listed in our selection guide.

Should I choose unfinished or pre-finished oak?

Unfinished oak is ready for oiling, waxing or varnishing, so you can choose the exact shade. Pre-finished oak is lacquered in the factory and arrives ready to hang, which saves on decorating. If a pre-finished door needs trimmed to fit, the cut edges need a light touch-up – we can take care of that for a small additional charge, confirmed before work begins.

Can I have glazed and solid oak doors that match?

Yes. Most of our oak designs come in solid and glazed versions, so a glazed kitchen or living room door can match the solid doors elsewhere in the house.
